Company Story
The Campground Automation story begins with Tyler Duffy, an experienced engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit. Tyler had developed a sophisticated drill rig for his brother’s seismic drilling operation. While staying for several months at a remote, unattended campground for a drilling job, Tyler noticed countless campers coming and going, apparently without paying. The idea was born to develop a self-service kiosk for the recreational camping industry.
At an after-church dinner sometime later, Tyler discussed his idea with Jon Sharp, then an independent software developer and embedded systems engineer. Six months later, the duo had developed a complete hardware and software solution: a rugged, outdoor kiosk, an innovative wireless utility control unit and advanced, easy-to-use software.
The company debuted the system at the 2007 ARVC/KOA InSites Expo in Phoenix, Ariz. The immediate interest was exciting and the positive feedback set in motion a road map of steady improvements to the system. Early adopters gave CAS the opportunity to aggressively pursue advanced features. Subsequent industry events saw more product introductions. Most notably, CAS introduced , our reservation and campground management platform including our online reservation website, SunriseReservations.com.
Rapid growth brought the need for new personnel. Our family has expanded to meet our customers’ needs, and we couldn’t be more proud of our staff. Every member is passionate about technology and works tirelessly to deliver exceptional solutions.
What began as an idea to meet the needs of unattended parks has expanded to cover parks of all shapes and sizes. is now a full-featured, real-time reservation and campground management system, providing powerful front-desk/back-office management and an unprecedented online reservation experience. As we see it, the Campground Automation story has just begun. We are excited about the growth we and our campgrounds are experiencing and look forward to new opportunities as we continue to innovate.
